I had quite low expectations of KL to be honest- my only other experience of a big city in Asia is Hong Kong. So I was expecting it to be noisy, busy and smoggy. But it was so different to that- very clean, quiet and interesting. British pounds go far here, so for £15 each we stayed in an airbnb on the 50th floor of a swankey tower with AMAZING views and our own bedrooms. Everything else was pretty cheap too- dinner was around £2 and taxi's less than £1!
KL is an interesting cultural mix of Malaysian/Indonesian/Chinese/all parts of Asia so we saw mosques, temples and churches and ate loads of amazing food.
On our first full day we went to the Botanical gardens and were pretty much the only people there mad enough to walk around in the mid 30c's humidity.
The next day we headed to Batu caves- some huge caverns that are now full of Hindu shrines/temples. We then got the monorail back to our apartment- naturally I was far too excited by this (#nerd!). In the afternoon we continued living our boujee life there by heading up to a free rooftop pool. Definitely my highest altitude 100m! We headed to Chinatown for dinner.
The next day we went to KL Eco park- a jungle complete with Bamboo trees, Monkeys and snakes right in the heart of the city.
I absolutely loved KL and would definitely want to come back for longer holiday there.
We then headed back to the airport for our next 10hr flight to Auckland.
